PEERS® for Preschoolers – Online Classes for Parents

PEERS® for Preschoolers is a proven social skills program for kids ages 4–6 to help them learn how to make and keep friends.

Parents join a weekly 90-minute online group session for 14 weeks. You’ll learn how to coach your child on friendship-building skills using simple lessons, video examples, and puppet shows for kids. You’ll also get weekly homework to practice at home and receive feedback on your coaching.

What you’ll learn to coach your child on:

  • Playing successfully with others
  • Following directions and listening
  • Saying hello and meeting new friends
  • Sharing and taking turns
  • Asking friends to play
  • Joining in ongoing play
  • Keeping cool during play
  • Being a good sport
  • Moving on to new games
  • Asking for and offering help
  • Using volume control
  • Respecting personal space

What’s included:

  • One 90-minute session per week for 14 sessions
  • Manualized curriculum
  • A chance to connect with other parents in the program
  • Supervision by a Registered Behaviour Analyst or Psychologist

Parent Commitment

  • Completion of weekly homework and video uploads of practice at home
  • Regular attendance at the online parent group
  • Ongoing communication about your child’s progress and any challenges

Who can join:

Parents or caregivers of kids aged 4–6 who:

  • Can speak in short phrases (4–5 words)
  • Can follow basic instructions

A brief intake meeting will be required before the program starts.

Good to know:

Sessions are led by a team including a Supervising Psychologist and Registered Behaviour Analysts. 

The program may be covered by the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) or extended health benefits.
