Breathe & Be: Mindfulness for Caregivers

Breathe & Be is a virtual mindfulness-based group intervention that supports parents and caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)  and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses in managing stress, achieving balance, and building emotional resilience . Each session teaches simple mindfulness skills like deep breathing, grounding, and mindful movement that support mental and emotional well-being.

What are the benefits?

Caregivers who take part in the program can expect to:

  • Feel less overwhelmed and more in control
  • Develop better emotional awareness and coping skills
  • Improve communication and compassion in parenting
  • Learn practical tools like body scans, mindful activities, attention grounding, and mindful movement and attention

Who Can Join:

Parents and caregivers of children or teens with ASD or other related disabilities. You’ll need a computer or device to join the weekly online sessions.

Before the Program Starts:

A brief intake meeting will be required before the program starts.

Good to Know:

Sessions are led by a Registered Psychotherapist with support from clinical assistants and Registered Behaviour Analysts (RBAs). Funding may be available through the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) or your extended health benefits.

We are actively engaged in changing the landscape of mental health care in Ontario, by augmenting (and compensating) the voices and experiences of Indigenous knowledge keepers, and by incorporating Indigenous values and teachings in our program models.
