Joan Broto, Ph.D., R.B.A. (Ont.), BCBA-D
Clinical Director of ABA Services
Joan is Clinical Director of ABA Services at Launch. She is a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D). Joan completed her MA and Ph.D. from Teachers College Columbia University in Teaching as Applied Behavior Analysis and Special Education, during which she obtained New York State teaching certifications for regular and special education. Joan is also a CABAS Associate Behavior Analyst and CABAS Assistant Research Scientist, and a PEERS Certified Provider.
Joan’s experience includes working with children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders since 2000 in various settings. Joan has taught graduate courses and is supervising graduate students. Joan also supervises ABA services in remote Indigenous communities in Ontario.
Joan has served on various boards and committees, including:
- Board of Directors for the Ontario Association for Behaviour Analysis (ONTABA) (2016-2020)
- Co-chair of the Professional Regulation Committee (2017-2019)
- Education Task Force (2018-2020)
- Represented ONTABA in the Provincial Advisory Team for the Pilot to Improve School-Based Supports for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (2017-2018)
- ONTABA Regulation Resource Task Force (2024-2025
- Board of Directors for the Foundation for the Advancement of a Strategic Science of Teaching (FASST) (2018-2025)
- Subject Matter Expert for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) (2021-2023)
